These pictures are
the record of three beautiful January days spent in Rome, in 2006.
The lack of other tourists more than made up for the cooler weather
and shorter days, leaving a largely deserted city free for us to
explore: no queues, relaxed locals and a city full of road works!
We pretty much walked everywhere, which didn't involve huge
distances, however the rewards of all the historical sites were
out of this world .. as hopefully the photographs will illustrate.
I found our accommodation on the
cross-pollinate website.
The Casa della Palma guesthouse is situated in the Saint Lorenzo
district, not far from the city sites and well serviced by buses.
The area boasts a large number of small restaurants, all reasonably
priced (especially if you are used to London prices) and within easy
walking distance of our accommodation. (and a really groovy
cemetery) To see some Rome Panoramas
