A Walk around the Matuku – Ferrymead Lakes

Apart from the Scaup diving duck and the Paradise ducks, the birds here have all been introduced. The Canada geese and Starlings are reaching pest proportions! They compete with our natives for food. For example, Tui and Bellbirds also eat the nectar from flax bushes. More Starlings, less food for the endemics. No idea what is to be done though. Do they get added to the target species in our goals of achieving a pest free New Zealand?
